Custom Quilting: Stitching with Personality
Step beyond the edge-to-edge mindset and discover how to make your quilting work with your quilt, not just cover it! In Custom Quilting, you’ll learn how to look at your quilt with fresh eyes and turn its individual blocks, shapes, and open spaces into opportunities for creative quilting.
We’ll explore fun and practical ways to combine freemotion designs, ruler work, motifs, and background fills to create contrast, texture, and movement. You’ll learn how to decide where to quilt, what to quilt, and why, while keeping the overall design cohesive and achievable. We’ll talk about ways to tackle borders including popular feather designs you’ll fall in love with.
No need to be intimidated by the word custom! We’ll break the process down into approachable steps and explore techniques you can adapt to your own quilting style and skill level. Come ready to experiment, play with ideas, and discover that custom quilting doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs a little imagination!
